I have my own Martha.

My daughter’s name is Martha but I have my own Martha Stewart in the form of my best friend, Glo! We are currently exchanging ideas – or should I say she has been suggesting a lot of ideas with me on how to decorate the house. She even took pictures of Ikea to show me rooms!!! She has patiently explained to me what a showroom is, how a valance looks like, what are the different names for furnitures and how to differentiate them – yes, that’s how very unknowledgeable I am! Her husband’s birthday is coming up and she has already gotten him his gift – a gps fleet tracking system.

We need a new desktop.

Well, honestly, just an lcd monitor. But if you ask the husband we might as well upgrade everything. The LCD has been blinking on and off for sometime now but lately it has been blurring a lot as well. We are holding onto it as long as it will hold on its own as a new desktop isnt on our plans for the next couple of months. We are pretty heavy graphic viewers – watching movies, using Adobe a lot so the monitor is extremely important to us (good thing I have G!).

Busted

Well, better call it bus-ted.

It seems that two buses out of the five that our organization rented for the events we have this weekend has a faulty aircon. This cannot be as the delegates came for all over the world, and the weather has been crazily humid this week (especially in the city). If only we can afford to buy a bus, we would. But we have been building a retreat house and activity center so having a permanent mode of transport isnt the priority.

I hope the bus company replaces the faulty buses!

Leaking

The faucet in the kitchen sink needs to be replaced. The water sometimes doesnt come out even if we have the faucet fully opened. It is a good thing that the owner of the house has told us we can replace, improve or renovate the house and have the expenses deducted on our rent. (I think they dont have money to do the repairs. Oh well, we dont have either! Ha!). Kohler faucets have been the recommended ones when I asked around the hardware store. I just dont know which style the husband wants to so I need to wait for him to make a decision.

I sound like a domesticated, submissive housewife there.
(So not true, by the way).

The Need to Stay Connected.

I still get a silly smile whenever people ask me how I survive living in the suburbs without a landline phone, a car to take me places (like the grocery), and things “needed” in the city. I just say, “Well, I have the kids to keep me busy and the Internet to keep me sane.” I do need, however, a cellphone to keep me connected to the husband and in cases of emergency. We anticipated long minutes spent calling each other so we decided to subscribe to a company that has a plan for unlimited calls and texts within the same network. They have dual plans perfect for the family so we got one subscription – which let us have three phones. The husband and I got one each, and we gave one to my son, which is originally intended to be used as a “house phone”. Imagine our surprise and indignation (yes, I was so frustrated I refused to pay our phone bill) when we moved and found out the cellular company didnt have any signal within our area! Que horror! I lodged a complaint against them when somebody reached me asking me to update my bill with them. It is good though that after three days, cellphone reception signal was strong. Imagine the plan being wasted if there wasnt any signal at all. There are times the signal gets weak and that’s when I am sorely tempted to get a cell phone signal booster, especially since talking with the husband over a choppy line is extremely frustrating.

Basically, the kit – SOHO Quick Kit – is a quick set up kind. Basically built for mobile homes (RVs and motorhomes), it boosts cell signals (Disclaimer:The dual band 50 dB (both 800 & 1900 MHz frequencies) wireless amplifier works with ALL North American cell phones, data cards and carriers except Nextel/iDEN.) You dont need any cables to install the kit. It retails for $399.95.

The Mayonnaise Jar and 2 Cups of Coffee

Some food for thought.

When things in your life seem almost too much to handle, when 24 hours in a day are not enough, remember the mayonnaise jar and the 2 cups of coffee.

A professor stood before his philosophy class and had some items in front of him. When the class began, he wordlessly picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with golf balls. He then asked the students if the jar was full. They agreed that it was.

The professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the jar He shook the jar lightly. The pebbles rolled into the open areas between the golf balls. He then asked the students again if the jar was full. They agreed it was. Read the rest of this entry »

Totally Happy Post.

This made my day (yes, this made my day far better than my best stay in vegas hotels when I was 16!).
We now have an antenna which makes us finally see local stations.

Uber babaw right?

Try being TV-less for 10 days, with Elmo and Barney on repeat. You can only watch your kind of DVDs by the time the little one is asleep and by then, it still needs to be rated PG because the big brother will be watching with you.

So no kissing scenes or violent scenes.
Tell me, ano naman mapapanood mo nun? LOL

Yay, I can watch Dyesebel tonight :)

Wordless Wednesday

First time to join :)

Taking care of G.

So G has been with me for around more than month now, and she has been a family computer as well. No matter how hard I try to keep her clean, I still see thumbprints of the kids on the screen and the cover of my lappytop. So I busted some more money over at CD-R King to get a laptop cooling pad, screen protector, microfiber cloth (functions like a microfiber mop for lint without scratching surfaces), and a cleaning kit.

And whaddayaknow I havent even opened it still.
Very very aggie yeah?
