Maintaining clean and safe air at home and at public placesPosted by admin on November 13th, 2009
I am a mother to kids who have sinus allergies and asthma. That makes me a cautious, paranoid and worry wart of a mother. Clean place with clean (unpolluted, dust-free, pollen-free) air is a must for my kids, that is one of the reasons we moved into the suburbs after living in the city for so long.
It goes without saying that I am like that at home too. The kitchen is my turf so I make sure it is clean and orderly every time I use it (and afterwards). I even have schedules for maintenance and inspection of kitchen vents, air ducts and our gas tanks for leakages. This should not be taken lightly as these are common causes of grease fires at home.
Ventilation and air duct maintenance is actually part of a law strictly enforced in commercial food establishments. Like I have said, majority of commercial kitchen fires start in the ductwork and can be prevented by regular and professional cleaning of kitchen vents.
Look at before and after pictures of ductwork cleaning:
Commercial establishments are required by law to make sure their vents and duct system are maintained, inspected and cleaned on a regular basis. Hygienic Maintenance Limited (HML) offers services that would solve these problems, complete with logging reports supported by photographic evidence updated annually. They also would orient restaurant owners of updated guidelines on current laws concerning maintenance and inspection of ventilation systems.
