More Relevant Fundraising IdeasPosted by admin on September 8th, 2010
It is the second quarter of school already and both my kids have started bringing home tickets for school fundraisers. I wish though that the school would think of a better alternative than a concert for a fundraising idea, because I don’t think all the students in school would really enjoy one. A concert would probably suit high school students more than those in elementary.
Besides, there are much better school Fundraising ideas than concerts. Being institutions for developing young minds, schools should be using these events as a venue or an opportunity to promote more relevant issues or skills such environmental awareness, health, and social awareness. Instead of a mere jamming session, School fundraising ideas can be more sports-oriented as in the case of marathons, climbs, or something a little bit more creative like an adventure race. Fundraisers can also be people-oriented as in the case of outreach programs or medical missions. They can also be more academic such as quiz bees, academic decathlons, or even subject exhibits.
Back when I was in school, common fundraisers included newspaper drives, cleanups, and tree-adoptions. They may not be as entertaining as today’s concerts, I admit, but they were able to raise enough money while making children learn a lot of values.
