Using Grow Lights – Where’s My Green Thumb?Posted by admin on September 1st, 2010
Living in a more rural than urban area like ours has its many advantages. One of these is the chance to make your own small garden especially since most houses would have a small space good enough for one. Although I do not really think that I have a green thumb, the thought of having my own flower garden or vegetable garden is very tempting.
There are many benefits to having my own vegetable garden. We would definitely be able to save a little if I start a vegetable garden. Also, the convenience of just stepping out and picking the vegetables that I need has a certain charm and appeal to it. Aside from the savings and the appeal, I will be sure that the vegetables are safe to eat and pesticide-free.
Having our own vegetable garden might also be beneficial for my kids. A small garden patch is a huge learning opportunity for any curious child. I might even discover that one of my kids have a natural green thumb. However, with a quick research, I realized that starting my own vegetable garden is not a joke at all. It takes a lot of work which I might not be able to sustain for a long time. Aside from the work, there are many things needed in maintaining a garden. Although I do not plan to get more fancy stuff like grow lights and hydrophonic nutrients, I would still need a lot of basic gardening stuff and tools.
Still, I am not totally scratching the idea. There are many benefits to it and I just might be able to pull it off. I could just stick to a small one and planting just a few vegetables that we often eat and are easy to take care of. I could also practice my gardening skills to flowering plants for the mean time. I am pretty sure my little girl will find uses for pretty flowers.
