I used to raise an eyebrow whenever I would hear a friend say she is going to meet a man she has gotten to know from one of those singles dating websites online. I just find meeting people online, more so the prospect of going to dating website to meet singles online, fake.
How wrong I was!
I got involved with the online world when I was planning my wedding back in 2005. I planned my wedding in three months, thanks to an online group of brides-to-be in my country who gave referrals. This is where I met my first online-turned-real-life friend, who ended up being a godmother to my daughter, now five years old.
I guess the great thing about meeting people online, or going on an online date, is that we will not be hindered with first impressions leaning heavily on physical appearances. We can concentrate on the “meet-up” itself, not really worrying about making a good impression and just be ourselves. After all, “rejection” would be a bit milder. You simply do not chat the person you are no longer interested in!
I personally just let my personality shine through. And I am thankful that I was able to meet true friends online. I am so grateful I gave the “internet” a chance.
So these days, whenever women ask me for dating advice, I don’t react negatively when they bring up dating web sites like Parship Ireland. Because in reality, whether you meet a person in real or reel life, one advice always resonates: Just be yourself.
