Window Boxes

Who doesn’t love Spring? (except perhaps those with allergies!)

window boxes

I personally love spring because of all the flowers blooming. It is such a welcome sight to see greens all around after seeing white for how many months in winter!

Flowers are a sign of spring, and what better way than to have window plant boxes along your house to beautify your home? It is a relatively inexpensive way to add color to your home and make it look new, and whatever you save from using window boxes can go to buying ngc gold eagle coins for investment!

Pros and Cons of Fruit Trees, Palm Trees and Bamboo Plants

fruit trees, palm trees, and bamboo plants are some of the most popular choices when it comes to trees for your home. Unfortunately, unless you have (at least) a whole block of land to yourself, getting all three types can be very difficult. So before you make a choice as to which type of tree you’d like to get, here are the advantages and disadvantages of each.

Fruit trees

The greatest advantage of getting fruit trees is that they provide you with food. However, most of these trees also require huge spaces, frequent cleanups, and a lot of patience.

Palm trees

These trees are mainly for decorative purposes. Not all palms are edible so growing them for food is not exactly a good idea. However, these are some of the most resilient plant species on the planet. They require less water and are capable of withstanding sandy soil.

Bamboo plants

More for the functionality of their stems than on the aesthetic appeal of the plant itself, people love bamboo plants. They quickly re-grow lost stems, are extremely tough like palms, and require little or no maintenance at all. The only catch is that they can grow annoyingly too fast forcing their owners to trim them regularly.

Using Grow Lights – Where’s My Green Thumb?

Living in a more rural than urban area like ours has its many advantages. One of these is the chance to make your own small garden especially since most houses would have a small space good enough for one. Although I do not really think that I have a green thumb, the thought of having my own flower garden or vegetable garden is very tempting.

There are many benefits to having my own vegetable garden. We would definitely be able to save a little if I start a vegetable garden. Also, the convenience of just stepping out and picking the vegetables that I need has a certain charm and appeal to it. Aside from the savings and the appeal, I will be sure that the vegetables are safe to eat and pesticide-free.

Having our own vegetable garden might also be beneficial for my kids. A small garden patch is a huge learning opportunity for any curious child. I might even discover that one of my kids have a natural green thumb. However, with a quick research, I realized that starting my own vegetable garden is not a joke at all. It takes a lot of work which I might not be able to sustain for a long time. Aside from the work, there are many things needed in maintaining a garden. Although I do not plan to get more fancy stuff like grow lights and hydrophonic nutrients, I would still need a lot of basic gardening stuff and tools.

Still, I am not totally scratching the idea. There are many benefits to it and I just might be able to pull it off. I could just stick to a small one and planting just a few vegetables that we often eat and are easy to take care of. I could also practice my gardening skills to flowering plants for the mean time. I am pretty sure my little girl will find uses for pretty flowers.
