Some Inspiring Open-Spaced Living Rooms

I have always admired open-spaced living rooms. There is something about rooms without partitions that are appealing to my eye, and how bits and pieces of furniture divide spaces and make an eclectic design. We were discussing the best cigar deals we can get so we can give them away as Christmas gifts when we stumbled upon these images and I just had to save (and blog) them so it can inspiration pieces for us when we finally have a house of our own.

A Table in A Kid’s Room

This is a cool arrangement in a kids’ room. Usually I place tables in corners in my children’s room. I always think that it saves more on space and let them have bigger space for playing – and the riding boots and other knick-knacks are aligned to the walls too. But this arrangement works – Its placement sort of beckons you to come and draw, work on a puzzle, read a book, or have a tea party.

Wouldn’t you agree?

Homes with (a lot of) Natural Light

See, I told you I love Danish houses. Even their kitchens, with undermount stainless steel sinks, look so appealing with all these natural light! I wonder how these homes look during winter. (Read all about my love for Scandinavian houses here.)

This room is EXACTLY how our future sun room (I hope) will look like. See how light comes all corners – absolutely breathtakingly beautiful! I also love how it looks so lived-in and cozy!

Feminine Bedrooms

Growing up I never really had a room of my own so I am a bit frustrated about having my own space now that I am married, since I am sharing a room with my husband. I would not be able to pick out these gorgeous color combinations for my room since my husband would probably have to pick up his jaw from the floor if he sees I made our room like this:

He lets me display our photo holiday cards and some flowers though in our side table so that is enough for me. Maybe I can just vent out my frustration when my daughter has her own room in the future :)

Rooms That Work With No Color

I love how these rooms make the no-color scheme work and yet they do not end up being cold, too modern and uninviting.

Shades of white, black and grey, these rooms still manage to be interestingly layered, even cozy.

I wonder how these can be. I have always been vocal about my love for white things, and white sheets; and if I didn’t have any kids I would love a white bed and white room. Heck, I’d even want white shelves and a white tv stand! I particularly love this room, as it has all the elements you need in a gorgeous room without ever betraying the no-color scheme and still end up looking rich, cozy and inviting. I think the frames and art work did it, don’t you think so?

Attic Rooms

I have been vocal about my love for attic rooms as much as being vocal about my choice not to use any diet pills to lose weight, even if it comes from trusted sites like buyapidexin.com. It has always ben a childhood dream when I was a kid to be able to get away from the hustle and bustle of the house and retreat to my own castle :)

Here are some tips on placing furniture in an attic room where the ceiling is uneven: Place the bed below a window for symmetry and built in headboard. Take the traditional route by keeping wall colors and bedding neutral; let the architecture speak for itself.

Tips on How to Complete Your Baby’s Nursery

When a couple finds out that they are expecting, they turn into excited would-be parents and spoil their child before he or she even comes out from the mother. Moms-to-be take care of themselves better, taking in every bit of pregnancy information she can get her hands on, listening to pregnancy advice, whether solicited or not and embarking on a different program on womens fitness which involves pregnant women.

When a couple finds out the gender of their baby, this is where they begin to get ideas for the baby’s room, the nursery. It is exciting and at the same time nerve-wracking, so the first step is to take a deep breath, relax and start looking around for inspiration, ideas and sample pictures.

Here are some tips on how to design your baby’s nursery:
1. Start early. Do not leave it to the last couple of months of your pregnancy before you start to make your plans. For a start, you are likely to be tired by then as your baby is sapping your energy and putting on weight. Starting early will give you the time you need to make all the necessary plans, makes budgeting easier and the process as a whole a lot less stressful.
2. Keep it simple. Remember the simpler your color schemes, the easier it will be to pair it with other items such a furniture and decorations.
3. Have a plan. Make a sketch on how and where you would like to put things and measure if it will fit.
4. Shop around. You are more likely to get better deals if you do not shop all at once from the same store. You can also consider having a baby wish list when your friends give you a baby shower.
5. Give space for growth and flexibility. Consider items that can last and can be used until your baby grows up, like a crib that can be transformed into a toddler bed or a high chair that can serve as an art chair in the future.
6. Have your own space there too. Chances are you will be spending a lot of sleepless nights with the baby when he arrives, so a comfortable chair or rocking chair, a rug, a table lamp and a few of your favorite things in the room can help you while away the time.

Comfy Couch

I was doing some research on a massage therapy program online a friend is keen to enroll in when I saw this very nice room. Its pieces are different and eclectic and yet they blend well together. I also love how comfy looking the couch is – and all that throw pillows in different colors! The different frames did it for me.

And did you notice what is on the chalkboard?

DWELL. to live in.

Awesome.

Inspiring Work from Life Stations

I would not buy hemogex or even my dream designer handbag if only I can have any of these rooms as my work corner – lighting and all. I love working during early mornings when the sun’s rays are really rays of sunshine than rays of death by harmful UV rays.

I have a lot of pegs for my future work corners. It ranges from full rooms to hallyways to nooks. Right now, a corner of a room would be fine for me.

Creating Your Own Garden Office

image

Whereas before a garden office can only be built by rich people, these days even the ordinary household can afford to buy or build one. Companies like Atelier, which did the impressive garden office you see on the picture, has an amazing gallery of designs for their portfolio. They modular garden offices which can be delivered to your home and installed in just three days!

But before you have one built, here are some considerations you need to think about carefully first:

1. Be sure of the location where you are going to have it built. Carefully positioning where your garden office will help you make most of the natural light and scenery your garden has to offer. It can also be situated close enough to the main house so you don’t have to walk far to get it and be close for any emergencies but far enough that you can work in peace and have some privacy. You can also decide to place it where it will not be as hot when it is summer time.

2. Choose the amenities you want it to have. The best thing about garden offices is that it can serve many purposes. It can serve as your office during the day and entertain guests at night. It can also serve as a room if someone needs a place to stay. It can be insulated and have double or triple glazing and it can have all the services you need to give yourself a proper office, which will be just as good as anything you might rent. It can even have its own bathroom, internet and phone connections!

3. You choose only the appliances and pieces of furniture that will help you focus on working and not the other way around. It might not be a good idea to have a television set in the garden office or a bed that might lure to just relax and sleep. Pick pieces of furniture that will help you work.

4. Work around with what your garden and nature have to offer. Take advantage of it. For example, gardens or the outdoors will give the best natural light to allow you to work. Most of these offices are designed with natural lighting in mind. They will have glass doors, large windows, and allow for ample natural sunlight to enter and illuminate the building. While this makes working at night a different story, there is still the capacity to add in artificial light if the room does not seem bright enough.

A Family Entertainment Room

We are a family who loves to watch movies right at the comfort of our own home. That is why having a good home theater system is on top of our list of priorities. It makes our kids happy, and we get to bond over popcorn, pizza and junk food every weekend right at home. For us, those are our valued moments. So while other families might like to invest on a great kitchen, a jacuzzi in the bathroom, or a bedroom that can rival a hotel room, we will choose to splurge on a state-of-the-art TV with home theater system.

We were able to finally get a new TV for our house last month. We got it at an incredible price coupled with great freebies – a home theater system with a subwoofer speaker. Now, our family gets to enjoy the movies we download at a clearer monitor with great sounds. My husband would like to have the home theater system on sound surround though, to really complete the experience, but he is having a hard time installing. I told him we should consult with audio video installers scottsdale Creative Sound and Integration. I have gone to their web site and have found them vastly appealing than other audio video companies scottsdale.

For one thing, they are focused on residential audio/video systems. They are an audio video company scottsdale affiliated and members of the following too:

• CEDIA – Custom Electronic Design & Installation Association, www.cedia.net
• PARA – Professional Audio/Video Retailers Association, www.paralink.org
• ISF – Imaging Science Foundation, www.imagingscience.com

If we would like to install a home theater in our future home (a girl can dream big, right?), they have design services that will help create a great sound and movie environment. They can Acoustic Treatments, Sound Isolation, ISF Video Calibration, Audio Calibration, and Theater Seating.

You can call them to have a complimentary home evaluation.

Call them at (480) 998-9699 or Email them at info@creativesound.info.

Dining Room Inspiration

These dining rooms are so lovely! I have been meaning to do some research and compare prices of modern furniture for my mom but got sidetracked with viewing lovely houses instead.

I have always wanted to have a breakfast nook. I always imagine my family taking breakfast and talking over coffee while reading the newspaper (or surfing the net for news) – right out of the movies.

House Inspiration: Lived In

Whenever I would describe my dream house, I go from modern to asian zen to minimalist and to shabby chic. One criteria doesn’t change though – I want it to feel and look lived in. Lived in means people actually like living there and staying there. I am sure pet beds will be a given in our house too, since my kids would want a pet.

I love this house, it just speaks like it is lived in for me. (House featured from Apartment Therapy)
