Comfy Couch

I was doing some research on a massage therapy program online a friend is keen to enroll in when I saw this very nice room. Its pieces are different and eclectic and yet they blend well together. I also love how comfy looking the couch is – and all that throw pillows in different colors! The different frames did it for me.

And did you notice what is on the chalkboard?

DWELL. to live in.

Awesome.

Inspiring Work from Life Stations

I would not buy hemogex or even my dream designer handbag if only I can have any of these rooms as my work corner – lighting and all. I love working during early mornings when the sun’s rays are really rays of sunshine than rays of death by harmful UV rays.

I have a lot of pegs for my future work corners. It ranges from full rooms to hallyways to nooks. Right now, a corner of a room would be fine for me.

Creating Your Own Garden Office

image

Whereas before a garden office can only be built by rich people, these days even the ordinary household can afford to buy or build one. Companies like Atelier, which did the impressive garden office you see on the picture, has an amazing gallery of designs for their portfolio. They modular garden offices which can be delivered to your home and installed in just three days!

But before you have one built, here are some considerations you need to think about carefully first:

1. Be sure of the location where you are going to have it built. Carefully positioning where your garden office will help you make most of the natural light and scenery your garden has to offer. It can also be situated close enough to the main house so you don’t have to walk far to get it and be close for any emergencies but far enough that you can work in peace and have some privacy. You can also decide to place it where it will not be as hot when it is summer time.

2. Choose the amenities you want it to have. The best thing about garden offices is that it can serve many purposes. It can serve as your office during the day and entertain guests at night. It can also serve as a room if someone needs a place to stay. It can be insulated and have double or triple glazing and it can have all the services you need to give yourself a proper office, which will be just as good as anything you might rent. It can even have its own bathroom, internet and phone connections!

3. You choose only the appliances and pieces of furniture that will help you focus on working and not the other way around. It might not be a good idea to have a television set in the garden office or a bed that might lure to just relax and sleep. Pick pieces of furniture that will help you work.

4. Work around with what your garden and nature have to offer. Take advantage of it. For example, gardens or the outdoors will give the best natural light to allow you to work. Most of these offices are designed with natural lighting in mind. They will have glass doors, large windows, and allow for ample natural sunlight to enter and illuminate the building. While this makes working at night a different story, there is still the capacity to add in artificial light if the room does not seem bright enough.

A Family Entertainment Room

We are a family who loves to watch movies right at the comfort of our own home. That is why having a good home theater system is on top of our list of priorities. It makes our kids happy, and we get to bond over popcorn, pizza and junk food every weekend right at home. For us, those are our valued moments. So while other families might like to invest on a great kitchen, a jacuzzi in the bathroom, or a bedroom that can rival a hotel room, we will choose to splurge on a state-of-the-art TV with home theater system.

We were able to finally get a new TV for our house last month. We got it at an incredible price coupled with great freebies – a home theater system with a subwoofer speaker. Now, our family gets to enjoy the movies we download at a clearer monitor with great sounds. My husband would like to have the home theater system on sound surround though, to really complete the experience, but he is having a hard time installing. I told him we should consult with audio video installers scottsdale Creative Sound and Integration. I have gone to their web site and have found them vastly appealing than other audio video companies scottsdale.

For one thing, they are focused on residential audio/video systems. They are an audio video company scottsdale affiliated and members of the following too:

• CEDIA – Custom Electronic Design & Installation Association, www.cedia.net
• PARA – Professional Audio/Video Retailers Association, www.paralink.org
• ISF – Imaging Science Foundation, www.imagingscience.com

If we would like to install a home theater in our future home (a girl can dream big, right?), they have design services that will help create a great sound and movie environment. They can Acoustic Treatments, Sound Isolation, ISF Video Calibration, Audio Calibration, and Theater Seating.

You can call them to have a complimentary home evaluation.

Call them at (480) 998-9699 or Email them at info@creativesound.info.

I bet that green would be a classic color in all rooms in the times to come.

It’s just that with Spring coming along, it is such a refreshing view to see GREEN things after seeing so much WHITE since last Christmas – don’t you agree?

I think I should have one room in our house green.

Dining Room Inspiration

These dining rooms are so lovely! I have been meaning to do some research and compare prices of modern furniture for my mom but got sidetracked with viewing lovely houses instead.

I have always wanted to have a breakfast nook. I always imagine my family taking breakfast and talking over coffee while reading the newspaper (or surfing the net for news) – right out of the movies.

House Inspiration: Lived In

Whenever I would describe my dream house, I go from modern to asian zen to minimalist and to shabby chic. One criteria doesn’t change though – I want it to feel and look lived in. Lived in means people actually like living there and staying there. I am sure pet beds will be a given in our house too, since my kids would want a pet.

I love this house, it just speaks like it is lived in for me. (House featured from Apartment Therapy)

Space for Writing

Whether you blog or write by hand, I encourage you to write everyday. It helps to unwind and stimulate brain centers as well for good memory. Of course it would be better if you have a dedicated space for writing as it encourages your mojo too. For example, I might need to do a review on the best acne treatment out in the market and when I write it from my workspace, it helps me finish it faster. It also helps me to get into work mode since I work from home. Here are some inspiration areas for you:

Playroom Attic

It seems that my group of friends are changing their ways, me included! Whereas before we would be talking about shopping for anything – bags, shoes, the latest gadgets like the blackberry curve 8520, we are now into saving and bigger spending – acquiring homes or building our homes. Travel plans are on hold, shopping bans are enforced until most houses are finished. I am quite proud of what they are doing!

An idea we all want for our homes is an attic. You can convert it to a playroom like what I found at Oh-dee-Doh!
