Inspiring Work from Life Stations

I would not buy hemogex or even my dream designer handbag if only I can have any of these rooms as my work corner – lighting and all. I love working during early mornings when the sun’s rays are really rays of sunshine than rays of death by harmful UV rays.

I have a lot of pegs for my future work corners. It ranges from full rooms to hallyways to nooks. Right now, a corner of a room would be fine for me.

This one is something I can do with my current space:

Setting Up a Home Office

Working from home has numerous benefits. The flexible time, absence of a dress code, not being stuck in traffic everyday and being able to spend more time with family are just one of the many things you can think of.

However, working from home might not be for everybody. It takes a good amount of discipline and focus to be able to separate work from personal issues, especially when you work from home.

One of the things you need to do once you have decided to work from home is to designate a place of work in your home. This is where you can work in peace and focus on work-related tasks. It is where you put boundaries to your family members and tell them that when you are there in your designated work station or place, you are not to be disturbed unless it’s extremely important.

Do not fret if you don’t have any space – it can be as small as a coffee table or a nook you can have your laptop open or pen and paper to work with. Try not to be situated in a place where you can easily get distracted, like in front of the television. You can choose your place to be in between the kitchen and living room, along the hall, or in any place where you can still see everything, especially if you need to monitor your children while working. Otherwise, if you can spare a room, consider converting it to a home office. That way, you can have your focus and delineate working from being with family.

Ideally, you would need the following:
1. Work station – a desk and a chair that you comfortable with. Practice ergonomics to prevent carpal tunnel syndrome and back, shoulder and neck pains.
2. Storage – depending on the type of work you do, consider getting shelving units for books and storage cabinets for file folders.
3. Cable Internet, VOIP, fax machine, phone line – these are usually items that can be reimbursed or are paid for by the company.
4. Computer or laptop, printer if you need to print documents.

Most work-at-home jobs require you to have a computer with Internet access. High speed Internet can be provided by most internet providers and most computers and laptops are provided for by your employer. What you would need is a ergonomically designed desk and chair for you to be more productive and prevent health-related occupational injuries. Poorly designed workstations can lead to debilitating neck, back and shoulder pain.

An ergonomic chair is a good investment and a must. These chairs offer essential support to the back, legs, buttocks and arms and reduce exposure to awkward posture, contact stress and exertions. This should be highly adjustable with a knob for lowering and raising the chair and an adjustable back where you can change that way it tilts. Avoid plastic chairs, and get those with a great deal of support (especially in the lower part of your back, and are padded.

Working from home requires great discipline. But if you create a working environment in your home, it will help you have more focus on working , have a schedule that works for your family and ultimately give you more time to enjoy with your children.

Looking for Office Chairs For the Home

I have been looking for a great but affordable office for my office at home. I consider it a great blessing that I am able to work from home and stay with my kids. It is less worry off my mind being able to see how they are doing every minute they are home and less expenses for me to travel to work. Since working requires me to be in front of the computer almost all day, I need to make sure I practice ergonomics to keep my spine supported and to prevent Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS) for my wrists. Office Chairs which has a good ergonomics system are on top of my list.

Chairs that many turn to in order to protect their backs are ergonomic chairs. These chairs are built with backs in mind. They have many adjustable options to help keep you as comfortable as possible and prevent back and neck injuries.

Lumbar support is very important. You may not realize it, but taking care of that part of your spine from the very beginning of your work career will prevent you from having trouble in your retirement. Utilize the lumbar support option. Sit in the chair with your bottom against the back. The lumbar support, when sitting this way, should make your lower back arch just a little bit. If not, adjust that also.

Executive Chairs made of mesh are seen more in modern offices and one that I am leaning towards to since I do not have airconditioning at home and these are the cooler chairs to have instead of leather.

How will you know if the chair is ergonomic? You would notice than an ergonomic office chair is adjustable at all angles – from the tile tension, height of the seat, height or the armchair and seat depth. This is because no person is alike in height and build, and his chair should be custom-built for his comfort and health.

Great View. Great Light

image

I was attracted by the huge windows right at the back of the iMac – it made me visualize my workstation, except that my table is brown and that I don’t face towards nice windows but a blank white wall. I will keep this in mind once we have our own house. It may help get work faster as I can be inspired by the beauty of nature instead of obsessing over losing weight fast at http://www.loseweightfast.net!

New Love

I think we need something similar to this – I really wish we can have our own house soon. Everything here is exactly do-able with IKEA!

I’d prefer more comfortable chairs though as I spend almost 12 hours a day in front of the computer seven days a week (if I can’t help it). Working from home, I need a good working environment so I can work in peace and focus.

Modern Workstations

I saw something similar being offered at local store and it was on sale for only Php2500. Too bad we don’t have a vehicle that can fit it as it’s not something to be assembled (made of hard wood!) It would have been perfect for son’s bedroom.

Desks

Since I work from home, I can’t help but be drawn to great desks featured in home decorating blogs. I am quite satisfied with my desk for now – nothing gives me more focus than an organized space just for work, but seeing these beauties makes me long to have a new work space, or a new house.

Being at home in front of the computer all days has some advantages, I am not getting expensive meals nor being inconvenienced by commuting everyday. But it sure is bad for the weight since you tend to snack all day. I might need help from www.naturalfatburner.net!

Sometimes I want a desk that has a lot of “organized clutter” like this one:

But quickly remember I live in a very dusty place.

My inner minimalist likes this one:

But I doubt I can keep this clean. I love it among all the rest I have my eyes on though.

Corkboards are a need for my busy life I think:
